About the WHRT
The Women's Health Research Team builds on the robust collaboration of College of Charleston faculty members, incorporating qualitative, quantitative, historical, cultural, and critical methodologies to better understand reproductive and sexual health issues and behaviors among women, girls, and gender expansive people. This team is committed to a multi- and interdisciplinary approach to health research, drawing from the behavioral and clinical science and communication fields, among others. Research findings extend concepts, methods, and theory in myriad fields, including public health, communication, history, psychology, sociology, biology, and English, among others.
We partner with researchers, clinicians, practitioners, and women’s health organizations to conduct praxis-oriented research that bridges the gap between theory and practice, informing the development of community-based public health interventions.
The Women’s Health Research Team welcomes applications from qualified, ambitious, and motivated students. Faculty affiliated with the program advise student research projects, including: independent studies, bachelor’s essays, MAYS grants, and SURF grants.
Please see application information under the Research Assistants tab and/or contact us at WHRT@cofc.edu for more information.
